Never heard Ray talk about GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) in an interview before until the lastest kmud on 3-17-17
@45:55

Not sure if the the kmud people were thinking of gaba or ghb when thinking of the plants that Ray was trying to think of... all 3 of them figured it was passionfruit. Though wiki doesn't seem to say if it contains it.

Anyone have any idea what plants/foods contain ghb?

Here is a link from another peat site talking about ghb
GHB - a protective adaptogen? - Ray Peat Q&A

"Succinic acid is alsoclosely associated with GABA metabolism (gamma-amino butyric acid is converted to succinicsemialdehyde in a transamination reaction), and so is probably complementary to the GABAanalogs GHB (gamma-hydroxy butyrate) and its lactone (which has anti-viral activity). GABAanalogs are now one of the most actively studied classes of adaptogens. GABA has a wide rangeof stress-blocking actions, including neural inhibition, progesterone promotion, and blood sugarregulation."
Ray Peat - The Generality of Adaptogens

gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid - Wikipedia
Wiki says ghb is a neurotransmitter.

Any other writings or info on Ray talking about ghb???
