One of the potential side effects of radiation therapy (RT) is vascular stenosis. Up until recently, the cause has been largely unknown.
For people going through RT for head and neck cancers, the risk of Carotid Artery stenosis is a factor of aprox 15%. Of course, reduced blood flow to the brain is a cause for strokes and even death.
This particular study outlines “new” thoughts on the cause of stenosis and radiation induced vascular disease:

Moreover, degeneration of the vascular smooth muscle, aggregation of foamy histiocytes and adventitial fibrosis have been observed. This is believed to be the precursor of lipid-laden foam cells and the beginning of atherosclerosis formation under the influence of pro-inflammatory cytokine release, such as interleukin(IL)-1, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). Among those, TGF-β is one of the most pleiotropic cytokines, affecting many cellular processes including epithelial cell growth, mesenchymal cell proliferation, and extracellular matrix synthesis (11). Ionizing radiation, even in low doses, induces TGF-β activation, affecting fibroblasts which are transformed into matrix-producing myofibroblasts and leading to fibrosis, a common feature observed in radiation induced heart disease.

What peaty methods can be employed to reduce the inflammatory cytokine release and fibrosis?

Naturally, the standards are red light, CO2, thyroid, & progesterone, but what about Solban & defibron? Are there others?

Ray Peat quotes on thiamine: Ray Peat On Vitamin B1 - Thiamine
Thiamine is anti-inflammatory.

The kicker is that thiamine supplementation works so well to counter the effect of chemotherapy that it is discouraged because it will interfere with the damage being caused (i.e. the "positive" effect). But a very high dose of thiamine inhibits tumor growth.

also this:
"Thiamine administration protected neurons against inflammation-induced impairments in neurogenesis caused by exposure to radiation, both in vitro and in vivo. Thiamine treatment also significantly increased lifespan. Attenuation of these inflammatory effects are thought to be due to increased stimulation of KGDH activity."
