PUFA And Hormones

Help me out here please:

Do you need PUFAs to synthesize Pregnelone to eventually get those other hormones?
I am a bit lost at the moment,as Peat himself says PUFAs slow down the metabolism and are in the end all bad? Where am I stuck here?

You dont need any pufa rich food(oils,seeds,nuts).

And to my knowledge they are not necessary for hormones biosynthesis, you need cholsterol for that.
