What are peoples thoughts on the potential for reversing prion diseases?
Some articles that suggest this fatal disease can be reversed
From some reading, of my very basic understanding it would seem that oxidative stress, and chaparoning cells effectiveness, basically down to mitochondrial function/dysfunction will determine the fatality of this illness?

Countering amyloid polymorphism and drug resistance with minimal drug cocktails
Several fatal, progressive neurodegenerative diseases, including various prion and prion-like disorders, are connected with the misfolding of specific proteins. These proteins misfold into toxic oligomeric species and a spectrum of distinct self-templating ...

Role of Oxidative Stress in Prion Protein Induced Neurodegeneration - IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY
A. Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) form a group of fatal neurodegenerative diseases, also called prion diseases, that cause typical reactive astrocytosis. B. The conversion of PrPc to PrPsc and the accumulation of PrPsc in the astrocytes precede neuronal death in the...

Mitochondrial dysfunction in preclinical genetic prion disease: A target for preventive treatment?
Mitochondrial malfunction is a common feature in advanced stages of neurodegenerative conditions, as is the case for the accumulation of aberrantly fo…
