Alright, so, everywhere you go on the internet, people are saying 'starch is so much better than sugar for post workout carbs'. What do you guys think, and can you back it up? Anecdotal and scientific evidence are both okay.

I would want fresh squeezed orange juice after workout, along with some milk and sugar. Maybe some BCAA's thrown in there. Also some coconut and salt, maybe even some baking soda.

Cliff has a post on this topic.
Strategies for athletes following a Ray Peat inspired diet

He also has other articles on benefits of sugar.
Paul Jaminet cites a study on cyclists that shows muscle glycogen synthesis
rate is higher for sucrose than glucose.

Though he tries to convince that 66 percent glucose and 33 percent
fructose would do a better job. But he used quadratic curve
using only 3 points. It does not look convincing.

People also say sugar is more fattening than starch. If you take whatever the medical establishment says, and change the sentence to say the exact opposite, you'll often end up with a true statement.

Since sugar is anti-stress, and working out is a stress, I think sugar would be good for post porkout. I'm not sure why you would want to eat starch!

P.S. there is a paper around saying that zinc supplementation prevents the T3 deficiency from exercising.
