Hello,
how likely is it that accutane stunts penile growth in teenage boys? I know accutane reduces androgens and IGF-1 but studies have shown that this reduction is only mild. I actually had my T levels tested during accutane treatment and they were in the 90% percentile for my age.
I was told that the androgens, that are still available, are plenty to do the job. I was told that penile growth during puberty only needs a minimum of androgens to be triggered and that the penis will reach its genetic potential as long as the hormones are in the normal range. I asked many guys who took accutane during puberty (age 13-16) and they said that their dicks still grew bigger during/after treatment. Some guys even grew well above average.. I asked on /r/bigdickproblems if some of them took accutane and still grew bigger and some of them actually did. So I tend to think that accutane has close to no effect on pubertal development. (I know, anecdotal evidence,.. but still.)
One guy even PM'd me with this "I took accutane at 14/15 by the time I was 16 I was 7 1/2 and by the time I was 17 I was 81/2 And now 18 I am 9". My dose increased as I got older."..
I am making this whole thread because I myself took accutane at the age of 16 and a half (only 10 mg per day though) for roughly 6 months. During this time I experienced no side effects at all... After that I needed a second round of accutane at the age of 19/20. I took 40 mg per day for 5 months during this time but I am fairly sure that my penis was done growing at this point anyway. Haven't really grown since I started to take accutane at the age of 16,5 but guys are supposed to grow into their twenties thats why I'm worrying.
I am around 6.5-7 inches long when I press the ruler into my bone and 5 inches around. Pretty average but I constantly ask myself if I could have been bigger without accutane or not... I think if accutane really had any potential to disrupt puberty it would effect other aspects of puberty aswell (not just penile growth) but there are literally zero reports on stunted puberty in teenage boys and teenagers are the biggest group of patients. common sense tells me that this medication has been around for nearly 40 years and if it had any significant effect on puberty/penile growth, it would have been reported by now. Accutane is also used at much higher doses for neuroblastoma in young children...
To go a bit deeper into the matter: accutane has been shown to only affect 5AR-1 but not 5-AR2 and 5-AR2 is the isoenzyme that is highly expressed in the genitals so am I right to assume that the androgens in this area dont get affected? 5AR-2 deficiency has been shown to cause micropenis but 5AR-1 deficiency has no effect on **** growth at all.
r/bigdickproblems - Anyone here who took accutane as a teenager?
r/bigdickproblems - Did any of you take accutane during teenage years? Did it affect your penis growth?
