If you search Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid + kidney disease a wealth of studies come up showing the positive affect of PUFA's on kidney disease. Isn't this paradoxical?

-Epidemiological studies indicate that n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) contribute to preserve kidney health.
-In renal disease states there is generally a lack of n-3 long chain (LC)PUFA.

None of those links obviously support the claim beyond what we already understand about omega-3 fats having short-range anti-inflammatory effects (and long-range immune suppression) and an absence of PUFA supporting a higher metabolism and requiring better nutrition (B6 springs to mind).
As for the epidemiological stuff, honestly don't start there, when it comes to nutritional science, most of it seems to be garbage. There could be any number of reasons why those studies correlated PUFA's with better kidney health and 'correlation' is not the same as 'cause'.
