Unfortunately, the only ones that keep their effect well after the honeymoon phase of first taking a substance for me are the non-peaty heavy hitters: low dose amphetamine, Ritalin, Modafinil.

Interesting thing in regards to "feeling stuck": Increased Dopamine leads to more neuroplasticity, allowing one to change their old patterns much easier than before
Thanks man. I’m thinking it might even be worth the lose dose Ritalin/amphetamine/modafinil for a short time just to really break out of that stuck mindstate. Hopefully I can bed in a foundation of knowledge in a new area with these unpeaty compounds and then gradually remove them as I get more knowledgable and more inspired?

When I'm optimistic about my future and feel like my health is actually improving I naturally gravitate towards being creative, building things and working on different projects. Motivation becomes effortless, I don't have to rely on discipline or routines.

When I feel completely lost and hopeless with no vision of a better future, or as milkboi said "feeling stuck", I spend all day wasting time procrastinating on youtube and watching porn and feeling miserable. I can barely force myself out of bed.

So I guess being healthy, and feeling like I know how to solve my problems and that I am on the right track, is what motivates me the most.

Love this man. It’s taken me 30 pretty painful years to realise that exactly the same as you, being healthy along with the belief I can change things, is really what motivates me too! Sometimes it’s effortless, sometimes it feels so far away that I never know if I’ll be in that mindstate again. I wish it was more stable!

Yes, that was my conclusion when considering those substances and lifestyle interventions. I don't want to make you believe this path is a guaranteed way to being a high performer or anything, and you better abstain from those drugs if health is by far your main priority. I just figured I wanted to start living the type of life I want to and not be held back by my and my environment's shortcomings.

I still struggle but this strategy has allowed me to take control over the direction of my life to a degree I never reached before.

I hundred percent agree with you, well maybe ninety-nine percent lol.

The 1 percent: In my experience, modern distractions are a helluva drug that even for healthy people can be a big problem in regards to motivation and drive. So even then, some strategy may need to be implemented to not waste time on them and not to get too habituated to getting pleasure from those sources.

In the end, what I'm suggesting is a work-around that doesn't fix the root problem that is not being in a healthy enough state. But I also got nowhere focusing solely on improving my health while seeing career enhancement only as an obstacle in this pursuit; it made me depressed and anxious about the future.

Yep I think that can be a very useful strategy.

I got rid of all social media and other distractions a few years ago so I kind of forget that most people still spend a bunch of time scrolling through their FB/IG/Tik Tok/gaming/whatever. My "default options" are to either practice guitar or work on businesses or study, so that's what I usually end up doing.

Though I still find that when I'm stuck in "learned helplessness mode" I will just conjure up new ways to waste time and self-sabotage lol.

I think there's probably some lesson(s) to be learned from those awful, depressed states. Maybe we become more humble and don't take things for granted in life?

From a food/supplement/hormone perspective, what helped? I'm inclining towards it being related to dopamine and androgens, but I'm open to new ideas.
Modafinil, Methylphenidate Separately) and Phenibut/caffeine combo have helped me tremendously. Protein meal early in the morning, lifting weights, sex without orgasm.
