Our baby's due date was about a week ago, we are becoming increasingly concerned that the larger the baby gets, the more difficult the birth will be. There's also other complications associated with a late birth.

Does anyone tips or recommendations for things we can try to get some movement down there....... Obviously peat friendly!

@haidut
My wife is pregnant with our 3rd child. As mentioned in my previous response above last year, she went to 42 weeks in a prior pregnancy and was induced. We're expecting that might happen again.

Any thoughts on what tests we should watch and/or request?

I realize it'd be ideal to let the baby gestate as long as possible, but it does get scary, since most practitioners are hesitant to work with you past 42 weeks, since the risk of stillbirth supposedly goes up after that.

I emailed Ray about it as well. His response:
"I’ve known people who gestated for longer than 42 weeks who were very healthy. I suspect that if the body temperature is a little below normal development takes a little longer, but usually the heavier babies with longer gestation have superior brains. I think it’s good to check thyroid, the ratio of progesterone to estrogen, vitamin D, and body temperature."

progest E would probably help but you may not have access to that, maybe vitamin D ?

Thanks for the link. Doesn't the article state that progesterone PROLONGS pregnancy........ We are already at 41 weeks, so I'm not so sure why you're recommending Progesterone

For what it's worth I was three-four weeks premature and I'm a mess health wise.

My sister was three weeks past her date and she's literally never been sick a day in her life. I remember a discussion somewhere about the fact that many times if gestation is continuing, it's for a good reason.

I'm not sure how to induce labor however and I understand the concern though.

Maybe email Ray, he has a lot of experience dealing with women, pregnancies and progesterone over the years.

my understanding is progesterone would regulate things to come at the proper time, while also making delivery easier. for some that may be extending it, for others who are already past due it may bring it on. progesterone is a regulator similar to thyroid, at least that's my understanding

I used acupressure. I’d been going to pregnancy yoga with an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable doula and she gave us the information about certain points around the ankles (and possibly feet) area. You would be able to find them on google. They’re the points to avoid prior to the end of pregnancy due to the obvious risk of miscarriage, and indeed they feel very tender when you apply pressure. It might take a while of regular and consistent application. But it’s powerful stuff. All the best!

I just saw this thread - hope the baby is here by now! But if anyone else stumbles across, something to try is to re-enact how the baby got there in the first place ;) A homeopathic cure of sorts ... my OB-GYN said the hormones provided by the dad were helpful to kick the cervix into dilating and getting things started. Just ... be gentle.

Spinning babies exercises and a visit to a chiropractor to encourage the best position of the baby and easier birth.

Just noticed an old comment of mine was mentioned above. Almost makes me nostalgic. :)
My wife went to 39.5, 42 & 41.5 weeks for her 3 pregnancies. The latter two ended up being induced. I wasn't necessarily worried about the length of time, but the problem was finding an OB or midwife willing to work with you past 42 weeks.
My wife followed a Brewer-style diet during her pregnancies, nothing too strictly Peat, nor many supplements.
All 3 are creative and intelligent, and always met their milestones. For the 3rd, I distinctly remember the OB commenting on how thick and strong the umbilical cord was.
If that's any consolation, @ddjd ...

Thanks for the reply. In the end all well and he was born only a week late so nothing terrible.

Any other tips in terms of optimising creativity and intelligence. Did your wife take any supplements during breastfeeding??

You might be already past this stage, but don't be afraid of getting help (postpartum doula or lactation specialist) if you can.

My wife didn't take much in a way of supplements, just occasional niacinamide and D3 mostly. She ate 2-4 eggs almost everyday throughout.

Getting enough food and keeping stress low are important. Especially avoid the anxiety of having to return to work after the insanely short 12-week leave that is pretty standard in the US. If you can, anyway.
