@haidut It doesn't look like anyone else has posted about this so I'm tagging you in. Hopefully you'll have an idea what could have caused this weird incident.
I took an oral pregnenolone supplement (50mg "MRM" brand capsule) to experiment with increasing progesterone. In the past I've taken topical progesterone directly and it didn't seem to have any effect unless I took huge doses, so I stopped trying.
Recently I decided to try one pregnenolone pill to see how it affected me before ordering a whole bottle of Pansterone. The pill immediately started my period (which I rarely ever have, only maybe twice a year.) The bleeding was so severe that the first two days I had cold extremities, shaky hands, rapid heart rate, heavy breathing and intense hunger. It was many times more blood than the worst period I’ve ever had. I was having breakthrough bleeding every 40 minutes no matter what I used to manage it.
I thought I might have to go to the ER. But I happened to have a bottle of Progestene (Idealabs progesterone I'd bought for a friend with endometriosis) and I just kept taking more and more to try to get the bleeding to slow down. Progestene was the ONLY thing that put a dent in the pain at all. I would just rub 8 drops on my abdomen every time the cramps and bleeding were intolerable. I think I got up to using about 45 drops a day at one point.
Finally after five days the bleeding stopped. About a month later I'm still using a little Progestene in the morning and evening and feel WAY better. But I'm confused about how my body reacted to that oral pregnenolone. Obviously my body did NOT make progesterone from that pregnenalone.
I'm always looking for clues about chronic hormonal problems all the women in my family share regardless of diet and activity changes. So I have been digging through this Pansterone thread looking for any insights into it and it looks like no one else has posted this particular type of case.
Thanks so much for any thoughts.
