I have dealt with my joint pain using liver, gelatin, and vitamin D. Liver I take 4 capsules of dessicated liver a day. Gelatin about 2 tablespoons cooked collagen Hydrolyzed. Vit. D I take 25,000 Iu but that is an experimental dose for hair regrowth and the tolerable upper limit is 10,000 Iu.

Sunlight, gelatinous cuts of meat, and regular liver intake should definitely help with this issue. Those would be my safe recommendations to start out with.
what does liver for the joints?

Not sure if this should go in this section, but didn't know where else to put it.

I am really experiencing painful arms every day now. It is there in the back ground all the time.

I know i am getting older, but this seems too severe for my age of 46.

I take T4 for my thyroid and use progesterone. So this is probably related to my hypothyroidism, but i can't seem to make it better with more thyroid meds or some T3.

My arms hurt around the elbow joint and to a lesser extent around the knees. When i play football i am really stiff and old for 2 days afterwards.

So i am thinking about some remedies to try and wanted to know what people thought.

There is glucosamine which is supposed to be good for joints. Anyone know why this is helpful ?

Then i thought about a small aspirin dose.

Any help appreciated.
Your aches and pains can be related to high oxalates, EMF’s or chemical sensitivities from new furniture or mattress, or grains and their gluten and anti-nutrient effects. I would start by looking at your diet. What did you eat yesterday?

Vitamin D certainly causes bone and joint pain in many, how much ?
“In these nursing home veterans, vitamin D supplement users were the most frail but with high 25 (OH) D. This can potentially be a cause of U-shaped associations between vitamin D levels and negative health outcomes.”

“One of the recent controversies in vitamin D research is a “U-shaped association”, [79] in which both high and low levels of vitamin D are associated with elevated disease risks [7]. Regarding all-cause mortality, most observational population-based studies have shown that low vitamin D predicted premature death, which is supported by recent meta-analyses [1013]. However, there were a considerable number of studies that showed U-shaped or reverse J-shaped associations between vitamin D and mortality [1420].”

Or maybe vitamin D supplements are toxic and turn you into a statue. ;)

Ok, so are you saying the issue regarding my joints is the the vitamin D.

I take 4000IU with vit K oct-march. My lastest blood level for vitamin D was in Oct 2023 = 133nmo;/l (75-200 was optimal in the range guide)

I am now 52 and have just started to have horrendous issues with my left knee. I have a torn meniscus (cartilage). Its been scanned and I have seen the specialist and i might need a clean out operation.

However i am also being affected in my right knee as well. Both are very stiff and painful the day after i do any exercise.

I am very active so sitting down does not apply to me. I work in construction, but i also cycle, go to the gym and I play squash at a highish level (team squash for my region).

Maybe i need to back off the vitamin D and see if anything improves.

Just quit the D! Also if you need help with knees check out knees over toes guy on YouTube. He was in baaaad shape before doing the exercises he does. My husband also benefits from just simple ankle mobility stretches.

I would guess the vitamin D exacerbates a magnesium deficiency. There's lots of cases where people heal from all sorts of bone and joint related issues with vitamin D. Magnesium probably being the most important co-factor.

We need to stop with the 'x protects from the harm of x'. If vitamin D needs magnesium to protect from the damage then just stop using the D!! Problem solved. Get as much sun as you can when the UV is above 4. Problem solved.

I prefaced my post with "I would guess", I'm not pretending to know if something works or not for another person. Just giving my honest thoughts/opinions.

Yes I know you were. It's just hard to see so many have to protect themselves from the things they do to their body. Vitamin D is pushed way too much in these groups. We were meant to be in the sun, not take supplements that try to mimick what the sun is doing. And the D test only measures stored D not active D making people think they need more.

I've seen the contrary, people speaking about certain nutrients like vitamin D and A in a hyperbolic manner and telling people what they should (or shouldn't) do. I am always very careful telling others what they should or shouldn't do as it's one of the major characteristics I loved about Dr. Peat that I try to emulate.
