This song popped into the head of my 92-year-old mother, so we looked for it on Youtube. She knows she was lucky to have lived in some great decades, like the 1940s and 1950s.

Wow, this was quite a popular tune in the 40s, it turns out. A whole bunch of versions in '46 alone. From what I understand, the Slim Gaillard version is the original, given he's credited as the writer with Lee Ricks, who worked a lot with Cab Calloway. This aren't even all of the versions I found!
