Osmolarity Blood test suggested by Ray Peat

Ray Peat gave me these list of blood tests to get for my grandmother with dementia, COPD, and anemia:

Vitamin D3, CO2, TSH, osmolarity, lactate and sodium, at least. Ideally, also serotonin and free fatty acids, pregnenolone.

But I can't find any laboratory that offers osmolarity. I've only found osmolality. Anyone know where I could get an osmolarity test? Or if it goes by another name?

Interesting that there was no mention of prolactin. Maybe it's too general?

I can't seem to find the "Lactate" test. But I did find "Lactic Acid" and "Lactate Dehydrogenase (LD) Isoenzymes". Could either of those be what Ray Peat meant by lactate?

And almost no one has the free fatty acids test, either, but finally found one from here:

And still wondering if osmolarity could be replaced with osmolality...

Osmolarity can be converted to (or vice versa) in considering plasma:

"plasma osmolarity is 1–2%...less than osmolality."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osmotic_co ... osmolality

I have not heard interviews where Dr. Peat discusses how he uses this lab test. I have guesses but leave it to others to comment. Some perspective is found here:

http://raypeat.com/articles/articles/water.shtml

In the context of ordering tests here, "lactate" and "lactic acid" refer to the same item.

It is hoped that someone in the age range of a grandmother has health care coverage that pays for lab tests. Most items on the list are fairly common and could be readily ordered by a doctor for your grandmother. If you are ordering labs and paying out of pocket, you can some of the links at the bottom of this STTM link;

(I do not necessary agree with all the STTM listed ideas, but links to lab providers may help price shop.)

It's an interesting list by Dr. Peat, possibly prioritizing requests in the context of a longer description of the individual.
