Odd, Weird Question To Do With Online Erotica

I was just at an elderly relative's house and was killing time on his computer when I found something disturbing in the address bar's drop down menu (websites he's previously visited).

It looked like a very creepy erotica website: "Sarah and Daddy: Free Incest Stories". Or something like that.

I came home and googled it on my own computer and it doesn't look to me like a malware redirect or something that could have been in a banner or sidebar ad and then accidentally clicked. But I don't know. Malware, banner, and sidebar ads have to lead somewhere. I didn't click into it to check it out more closely mainly because I don't want to take the chance on infecting my own computer with something by visiting a site like that. Plus, gross.

Wondering if he might have deliberately visited that site that is making me sick in my soul.

Does anyone know about stuff like this...? Is it possible to get a site plainly into the address bar like that via stealth malware or by accidental clicking a random pop-up? I'm pretty tech savvy but am hoping there might be something to do with this that I don't know about, that makes it an accident. The computer does seem slow and a tad glitchy and bogged down, especially considering it's a fairly new Windows 7 box with decent specs.

Plain old porn wouldn't be freaking me out. It happens. But something like "incest stories..." Like I said, I feel kind of sick. :(

Again, could something like this get into the address bar cache by accident? Any advice appreciated.

Incest porn is so prevalent now that what you found doesn't have to mean anything. It's mainstream porn, impossible to avoid it if you surf for regular porn. It happened very suddenly too, like overnight. Looks like all the internet porn is controlled by a small centralized elite deciding what's going to get pushed at a certain time.

Well, the film Taboo was one of the top-selling porn films of all time... incest is apparently rich fodder for fantasy. That being said, if you were to ask some average fans of that sort of erotica whether they want to act out that fantasy in real life, you'd probably get a horrified "Of course not!" from most of them. (Probably just like most of the 5 billion rabid fans of 50 Shades wouldn't actually want to be hit with a riding crop. And while rape fantasies are super common for women, I can't imagine any of them want it to happen in real life.) So even if your relative's visit to the site was intentional, I wouldn't equate it (even remotely) to finding a diary where he describes actually acting it out.
ETA: Not only is Taboo one of the top-selling movies--there were like 14 sequels or something, and the Blu-Ray of Taboo 2 and 3 is in the top 1% of all Blu-Ray sales in the Drama category on Amazon, which is astonishing. (I know all this because my husband and I were just discussing this film not half an hour ago.)

What does your gut say
Gut says "intentional". :( That's why I'm so sad. How disappointed my other elderly relatives would be if they found out he even visited a site like that.

So even if your relative's visit to the site was intentional, I wouldn't equate it (even remotely) to finding a diary where he describes actually acting it out.
Yeah, you know, I was thinking that, too. Thinkin' ain't doin', and I'm not much into the notion of thoughtcrime. That way lies fascism.

FWIW, if it was adult porn I wouldn't be particularly creeped out. But IMO incest has always been the grossest thing to be turned on by. Not only a betrayal of youth but of the most trusting relationship that should exist between a family and its children.

Also, this site was apparently stories not pictures, although I didn't go into the website to find out. But the google search results said "author: so-and-so", so I'm guessing it's actually a story and not a pictorial. If so, that's at least better than pictures.

In line with both of the above quotes from members, I'm also thinking/hoping maybe it was just a one-off of morbid curiosity. I've done that a few times...not with porn, which I don't find particularly fascinating in any incarnation, having got my fill of it while in a long-term relationship with a hard-core fan some years ago, but with other websites of out-there topics. Gone once just to see and then never gone back. I've been on this relative's computer plenty before, and never seen anything remotely like it. And I seriously doubt he's savvy enough to figure out or know how to clear browsing history...although anything is possible, and his browsing history did seem kind of short.

In any event, I have to let it go...not much I can do with this even if I was personally inclined to condemn on such flimsy evidence. There is not even a whiff of suspicion that he's ever acted on an incestuous or pedophilic impulse in his life, and therefore I certainly can't mention this to anyone. Saying something could generate suspicion where none is justifiable. I just wish I hadn't seen it at all, so I wouldn't feel like this right now. Incest and pedophilia are just really low thoughtforms. Disappointing and saddening even if never acted out. :(

Wow. I find that pretty sad. Families are rough enough without deliberately sexualizing the relationships for "entertainment". Ew.

Hard to believe, but in about an hour watching the flesh-eating zombie apocalypse unfold further with the new psychopath-in-charge is probably going to make me feel better. :meh:

I agree with denise and petpeeve.

Im assuming youre just freaked out because this person is close, but the reality is its not that weird. Everyone has something off about them; its usually the people that are the most judgmental and close minded that end up satisfying those "weird fantasies" in the first place.

I remember learning in psychology that if you want something to not happen, you DONT say, "I am not ugly."

Its better to say, "I am attractive." Etc. etc.

It couldve been intentional. Or not. Everything has an underlying primal satisfying purpose. Is it the incest itself, or is it moreso the turning a life long friend into a lover?

It isnt so cut and dry in a lot of cases.

I wouldnt bring it up as it seems to be moreso of a casting judgment on something he probably hasnt come to terms to, or even understands than trying to figure out the underlying reasons. Unless he is mentally ill, and going to harm someone close, its a normal weirdity.

If you watch monkeys having sex its supposed to turn you on. Its in the museum of sex. Does that mean you wanna have sex with a gorilla? Does that make you weird?

Weirdness is just things we dont understand and just cast judgment on and usually never think about deeply. I think thats a sign of habituation. A serotonin trait in and of itself.

And although you'll be very entertained by watching a fictional flesh-eating zombie apocalypse unfold further, you probably won't want it to happen IRL! ;)

I get what you're saying, though. Knowing that "other people" are into freaky ***t isn't the same as knowing that Uncle George is! It's not necessarily even a judgment of it. What's ironic is that it's probably the ingrained incest taboo that makes us so squeamish about our own relatives' sexuality.

Ok...And some people have an "underlying primal" urge to be disgusted with incest and beastiality!

Little dudebro, I never said it was "weird". YOU did. I said *my question* was odd and weird. And it is. For this discussion board, anyway.

I said what I thought my elderly relative was looking at was "creepy". And if it indeed was not a one-off or an accident, it *is* creepy. Anyone who gets turned on by having sex with young children incapable of consent is CREEPY. This is especially true if the children are relatives. That is not being "judge-y" or whatever your pseudo-rationality or shiny, shallow hyper-intellectualism tries to gloss it over with. It's the UNIVERSAL TRUTH.

I'm sorry your Psych 101 curriculum was apparently so heavy into mushing up your mind with moral relativism that they didn't bother to teach you that. And I hope your own mommy and daddy, who presumably have not effed up your head by having sex with you before the age of consent judging by your stance in this argument, but who you probably think have effed up your head in a myriad (look it up!) of other ways, including pampering most of your whims, giving you a nice allowance, and buying you the computer you're using to access this forum, think that tuition money was well spent.

Scientifically, people (women in particular from studies ive seen) get turned on watching monkeys have sex weither they know it or not in many cases. Why? We're monkeys.

Are those people weird because of that? No. Because its purely biological. Just because you think something, doesnt make it fact, nor weird, or just. Nothing is really weird if you think about it. Thats just dogma, which this forum is for the most part against, and is towards finding these underlying reasons.

Its this dogma and group think that has made us disregard the simplest of cures such as uric acid from urine, and worn down our abilities to be open minded to the fact that people do weird ***t, but always have some sort of reason to.

I have to remind myself as well to ask these questions as to why? And remind myself that everyone has a reason to doing what they do; especially if something seems completely insane at first, like eating clay (minerals), or charcoal (detoxification), or chewing the blood of a tree (gum). Sexism and rascism from insecurities, or being molested.

Theres reasons to all of these things and we, studying at the forefront of nutritional thinking, and physiology should be solving these whys instead of just judging without thinking.

Idk. Just a thought however. And not really directed at anyone.

Why would he be doing these things? Has he had a rough life? Maybe abusive family and or war? Maybe bullied.

Youre right to feel attacked; Its hard to write so much and get everything correct. My bad.
Im just used to seeing people nowadays unjustly prosecuted without actually having their issues being resolved, and talked out. We're all just human.

To be entirely clear, what I really think about incest is what I think about most things: as long as both parties are of the age and emotional maturity to consent, have at. Not my business. It definitely doesn't float my boat but again, being of sound mind and having the capability to consent is key. So if two consenting adults who happen to be father/daughter or mother/son or mother/daughter or whatever want to carry on in that manner, have at.

However, even between consenting adults incest is not a particularly wise course of action. There's a reason responsible animal breeders don't usually pair offspring with parents, or close relatives with close relatives, and it's because the resulting progeny have a very high incidence of genetic abnormalities. The kid in the porch swing playing Dueling Banjos in the movie "Deliverance" was a couple reproduction cycles worth of incestuous inbreeding at work. Good non-philosophical argument against incest, that.

I was not attacked. I was "douched". There's a difference. Help yourself out and learn it.

Perhaps being attacked and douched are equally infuriating to the recipient, but make no mistake...I did not feel attacked, even if I did feel infuriated. Somehow I feel better now, though. :D

I dont know the difference. Being douched is an indirect attack then? Im really just trying to help.

Better to be douched off than douched on, that's what I say.

Okay, I'll take you at your word that you're trying to help.

And I, in turn, am trying to help you when I tell you this, even though my words may seem harsh. You seem to have an imperfect understanding of what is meant by being douched, so I'm-a try to 'splain.

When you try to defend the fundamentally indefensible by acting like a know-it-all philosopher using morally relativistic clap-trap arguments culled from various humanities courses taken during your freshman year in college, you come across like a giant douchebag. So, you are essentially douching people when you argue in this manner. It pisses people off, especially people who know more about and have more life perspective about the indefensible issue than you do. Usually these people will also have a better understanding of the concept of relativism than you, and how frequently it is abused and misused.

In this case, the indefensible issue being incest with children not of age to give proper consent, and the relativistic argument being that it's just a garden variety "weirdity" because movies on the topic are popular and people get turned on by watching monkeys have sex, so anything to do with sex is okay, even incest with children, because really, isn't *all* sex kinda weird? Or something.

Do you follow? Do you see how shagging children who are not emotionally mature enough to give consent is creepy, and not at all like getting aroused by watching two monkeys have consensual sex, and further, how arguing that they are remotely similar can make you seem like douchebag?

Worth noting is that it's possible to douche people when discussing issues of less import than the indefensible ones, but the indefensible issues are where you're going to get the most pushback.
