I just bought NOW brand theanine and noticed that it contains decaf green tea 250 mg as well as theanine 100 mg per capsule. I didn't notice that when buying. I read somewhere on the thread that green tea has something that makes it estrogenic, so I guess it's not a good choice?

Also, why does it say on the bottle to not take it on an empty stomach?

I think there's some debate about green tea. Ray believes it's estrogenic, and other users reported feeling estrogenic effects, but there's other studies showing it lowers estrogen and green tea's tolerated well by many people. So basically, results may vary? I think it's the tannins in green tea that can be upsetting for an empty stomach, same with coffee. Whether that's the case with a supplement, I don't know.

I believe it has silica. You might worry about it more than the green tea leaf.
