Not responding to thyroid

After one year now, of trying different types of thyroid, Cynoplus, Cytomel, NDT, etc., I am still not responding to it. My temps are consistently low, pulses consistently in the mid-eighties. It never seems to make me warmer, or do anything really. If anything, I feel way worse over the past year. I still feel extremely hypothyroid, still have very weak bowels, and am still frozen. Broda Barnes has mentioned that there can be other culprits for low temps, etc. I'm not sure what to think right now.

How much are you taking? And how often?

I have tried several ways. Small one or 2 mcg T3 per hour, larger doses of 6 to 12 µg every couple of hours, I have tried quarter tablets of Cynoplus, nature Throid, etc. I continue to feel like crap, extremely cold, hypo..

For me, I need magnesium with thyroid to activate it. Whether coffee, oxide, chocolate.

I think the only magnesium I am currently getting is OJ. Coffee makes me to jittery, as does chocolate although I do eat some. I tried supplementing with Mag glycinate also and noticed nothing.

Do you ever feel any ill-effects from the larger doses? I take much more than that - some people need to. I take 25mcg T3 twice per day and 2 grains of NDT twice per day, generally spaced around 4 hours apart. I mentioned this on another post a while ago, but I got very hypothyroid splitting my thyroid medication into smaller doses taken more often throughout the day.

I've never heard of this. How does magnesium activate thyroid?

Not absolutely sure on this,
but I believe Peat said in an interview
that hypothyroid people are often deficient in magnesium.
I'm hypo myself
and have considered that I should be okay on magnesium
because I drink a fair amount of coffee.
Then again...Peat always seems to emphasize in interviews
when asked about magnesium
that he uses dark roast--seemingly implying that it has more magnesium.
I drink medium or light roast, so....

RP uses dark roast coffee probably for niacin.
Niacin content of dark roast coffee is much higher than
medium or light roasted coffee.
80-150 mg/kg in medium roasted coffee
and up to 500 mg/kg in dark roasted coffee.
Niacin content in coffee depends on temperature
but mineral content should not change .
RP mentioned that people with healthy thyroid
need lot less magnesium than RDA of 420 mg.
Since hypothyroid people can not retain magnesium
due to lack of ATP, a source of energy, increase
intake of magnesium helps to stabilize ATP.
This lowers waste of ATP and increase energy supply
like thyroid supplement does.

It's possible it was niacin he was talking about in that interview
(I've heard him repeat it in 2 or 3).
But, as I recall, he was talking about magnesium
when he made the comments about dark roast--
with the implication (or maybe just my inference)
that the darkness of the roast increased the amount.
Oddly, I think I remember the dosage (but maybe not the substance):
I believe he said he estimated that dark roast coffee
gave him about 40 mg--of niacinamide or magnesium : >)

In any event, Peat does say coffee is an excellent source of magnesium.

The other thing to look at is, are you eating enough, protein, sugar and vitamin A

If you are going to step on the accelerator then you better make sure there is gas in the tank.

I'm just a mess! I only take maybe 8-10 mcg daily. My nutrients are usually all where they need to be. I do slack some days though because I am bed ridden.

I've only been taking thyroid a few weeks but have been able to warm up some. I take a 25 mg tab of Cynomel in small doses during the day then a little Cynoplus at night. The ratio is off and I have had racing heart but my hands and feet did get warmer. Hth.

The mid 80's pulse is good according to Peat's recommendations.

I’ve been trialing cynoplus and I can take a whole tablet at once, which is obviously not recommended, but see 0 changes with how I feel. Something is blocking the thyroid (liver?).
