Combie, are you getting enough zinc?
Excess Vit A can suppress thyroid function, so what's your body temp/pulse like?

Hmmm... That's a very good point. I probably have not. Oysters are a bit out of my budget range atm. I've some zinc gluconate tho. Zinc definitely gives me the wood. This I know. :D

Hey Frustrated,

I'm just throwing this out there because it is one of the few things I stumbled upon that makes a lot of sense. I don't know your situation, but there is a website you might want to check out called http://yourbrainonporn.com/ You should try the 90 day thing. Obviously, everybody is different and reacts differently to different stimuli, but the research says that internet porn and masturbation tends to create strengthened neuron pathways that "rewire" our pleasure centers in our brain to be stimulated by 2d internet porn rather than a real person, which in turn over time, can completely demolish our libido and erection quality.

We lose sensitivity and have a hard time becoming aroused and horny. I've stopped masturbating completely a couple months ago and saw a lot of positive results, and since it is the new year, maybe you can give it a shot, if you do look at porn. It couldn't hurt. I started again toward the end of the year but for the new year I am absolutely not going to, no matter how difficult it may be at times. A lot of people say their social anxiety goes away, their motivation sky rockets, their confidence increases, and they feel like manimals when they do this. You've already cut out all the junk food in your diet, maybe it's time to cut out the junk food for your brain too.

Hey Charlie, thanks for the warm welcome :D

It's nice to have a support group when doing the nofap or anything else that might be difficult, so good to know there is someone else on here starting the same day as me. We can do it, stay strong!

@GamestopDorito

Libido is an indicator of a lot of different things. Sex is great, but even if you are single, a strong libido is a general indicator of virility, will power, your "mojo", just generally it is usually tied in with your zest for life and drive to accomplish things. I noticed that when my libido started going away, my hair started to recede, I got pretty down and depressed, my motivation went through the floor, and I became pretty chronically lethargic.

I could sleep for hours but still wake up tired. This tells me that there is a deeper underlying problem, most likely hormonal. I'm only 25 so this shouldn't even be an issue, but everbodies' life and circumstances are unique so depending on what you have done, stress and other factors accumulate and can cause imbalance if overindulged. Also, the more spiritually inclined individual will generally associate a strong libido with a direct desire to pursue spiritual practices. Your mojo is kind of like the fuel in your engine. Again, everyone is different, but when my libido is low, I usually notice other adverse affects that I would rather not have. Libido is a very good indicator of overall health.

While we're on topic. I went nofap for something around 84 days prior to the christmas break then resumed. Changes I noticed on nofap were less sweating, less fatigue. I thought it aided creativity but the past few days have been very creative, so not sure. I'll start again today.

Urges come in waves, after 2-3 weeks got quite easy but a combination of things namely stress lead to me "relapsing" so to speak.

Problem is I haven't "faped" in months. I don't watch internet porn either.

Wish I had some help for your frustrated. But I am dealing with my own libido issues myself. There does seem to be a small improvement though since starting Peat.

In his last couple of KMUD interviews, Ray Peat has emphasized the stressful nature of non-ionizing radiation of the sort we get from our vast arrays of electronic devices. It would not surprise me if this form of stress harms libido and sexual function. :2cents

A lady friend of mine (who is healthy and has a strong libido) told me that she has difficulty engaging in sex or self-pleasure near computers or related equipment when they are turned on. Her desire evaporates, and her body does not respond the way she wants. :(

I recall a study where they measured testosterone in men while they abstained from sex or fapping.. Testosterone rose steadily until peaking at day 7 before starting to decline. It will vary from person to person, but it looks like there is a balance to be struck. Too much fap/sex and prolactin rises, too little and the body probably starts down regulating beneficial hormones (not to mention you have the risk of prostatitis with too infrequent ejaculation). If you're in love then you get some nice oxytocin which is anti-inflammatory and probably counters the effects of the prolactin rise after orgaism. I always felt better physically and mentally having sex in a relationship vs fapping or casual sex .. For what it's worth. I had a long stretch of severe sexual dysfunction so this topic is of interest to me.

I was just on vacation for about two weeks -- no electronics. Still no wood.

I reject the prolactin argument. It's like saying spiking your insulin after a meal causes hyperinsulinemia.

You can get oxytocin from just looking at your dog btw.
