Not sure, but they can't be much worse than oysters, can they?

Shellfish is something I eat occasionally, not every day, so that's my insurance policy

I don't think so. You need shellfish. Loads of trace minerals not present in liver, and amazing amino acid balance.

Sure, all seafood is contaminated, but shellfish is often a tiny fraction of the contamination of the common fish.

Mussels, oysters, scallops, etc. are not only safe but essential part of the diet. Weekly is fine.
