I always wonder if it's a flavor from the paper or if it's simply a purer coffee than what I can make with the press.

You can 'pre-wet' the filter paper by pouring hot water over it before adding any coffee, then once the filter stops dripping toss out the water and start brewing coffee with the wet filter. Should remove some of that paper taste.

I'm not sure but I think gold is bad for Ray Peat.
