"Cistanches Herba, one of the “Yang-invigorating” tonic herbs, was found to enhance mitochondrial respiration, as indicated by a significant increase in ATP-GC and mitochondrial state 3 respiration in H9c2 cells and in isolated rat heart mitochondria [37]. Cistanches Herba was also shown to induce mitochondrial uncoupling in both cell and animal models."

Has anyone here experimented with Herba Cistanches (Rou Cong Rong)?

Wow, it also increases UCPs another benefit of cistanche. Maybe that's why it helps with neurodegenerative diseases.

I made a few threads on it. It seems like a pretty peaty herb. Increases progesterone , testosterone , steroidogenic enzymes and dopamine. It also lowers lipid peroxidation quite powerfully.
