Maybe because they "treat" only with T4 and not T3?

That study is like a fishing expedition. They compared sale of
T4 to cancer rates in some population. Out of 4 cancers ,lung
cancer stand out based on p value. Then they discounted
smoking contribution to lung cancer based on some models.
Then just speculation after speculation , no evidence.
Whenever i read a really stupid study
i check the bio of authors, these are almost always written by MDs.
They have no idea about science. They mentioned all the limitations
of this study and then they are saying

"However, the impression we get from our experience
in epidemiological studies monitoring [31] is that this
drug should be prescribed more cautiously. "

Only a MD would make this kind of recommendation based
on very weak evidence. Someone with little bit of training in
science would have asked for more experimentations before making
any conclusion.
