Milk - Lactic Acid?

I have another newbie question - I understand lactic acid is something we're supposed to be avoiding; however, isn't the milk we're supposed to be guzzling loaded with lactic acid? I think I've missed something in my understanding of this.

I'm still trying to piece this all together (as I'm sure many of you are) so forgive me if I've repeated answered questions. I really am trying to do searches and read up before I quiz.

Thank you for your insight!

Milk has lactose, which is a disaccharide. Lactic acid is sour, only cultured milk products have lactic acid.

Oh that makes sense. I figured I had gotten myself confused about the lactic word. So the fermented or sour milk products are the ones to avoid or rinse (like cottage cheese). Got it! Thanks!
