I've noticed anecdotally that babies born from malnourished mothers are quite often markedly overweight as they go through childhood. It's as if they are responding to a prior famine state. It's not exactly the same but possible that serotonin could also be involved. Incidentally my own mother was found near death at 3 months old and only weighed 8 pounds. I've often thought that left a lasting impact on her and probably her children too. Thanks for posting this such saturation.

There must be many many mechanisms that ensure that in my opinion. This study gives good examples: Maternal nutrition and the programming of obesity

By the way, you gotta love the "symptoms" of "pregnancy diabetes":

large babies

high red cell percentage

calcium, magnesium, sugar deficiency

I'm impressed. That pretty much confirms what I suspected. I'm no scientists nor do I claim to be but I do appreciate it nonetheless. It's a simple observation by an ordinary gal but you don't always have to have a PHD to notice patterns in nature. Thanks for posting the science to back that up.
