The effects of diseases of the liver, thyroid, and kidneys on the transport of vitamin A in human plasma
This study observed lower vitamin A and retinol-binding-protein (RBP) levels in hyperthyroid patients, whereas hypothyroid patients have higher vitamin A and RBP levels. This is in line with RP's observation that a higher metabolism uses more vitamin A, whereas the requirement of vitamin A in hypothyroid patients is lower.
