The study claims to have proof that this issue is caused by a faulty gene, but I think this does not reduce the value of confirming Ray's statement that thyroid activity is a direct determinant of intelligence.

I wonder if they will treat the children with this 'genetic predisposition' even if the thyroid labs are normal? It would be nice if they provided some treatment based on symptoms rather than just lab work. That was interesting as always haidut!
