What kind of ideal, defined by who? Apparently, the mortality and morbity stats favour people in the so-called 'overweight' category over people in the so-called 'ideal' category of standard BMI ranges. I don't think that means everyone should strive to be in that range - it might not be optimal for any particular individual. But the promoted 'ideal' seems to be strongly influenced by the weight-loss (including pharmaceuticals) and gym industries.LucyL said:Maybe - The average American is 23 pounds heavier than his or her ideal body weight.
