I thought Ray is against ascorbic acid as an additive and supplement but he thinks vitamin C in foods is very beneficial. He talked about the first vitamin C supplement he took and how benefical it was but very expensive. Then it was replaced by a cheaper product and it only gave him allergic reactions.
