Hi Guys

My health has been terrible of late, with fatigue and weakness being at the top of the list

My recent bloods came back with creatine high above range and also uric acid high above range

My GFR is 80, I am 33 years old

Should I be concerned about my Kidneys, my GP says these results are totally normal??/

Not enough data. If you can give numbers, it's better than just say hi or low.

Creatinine (not creatine) alone means little. What if you eat a lot of protein and are very active? It would be higher than if you're not active.

Based on what I know, as I have some kidney issues that border on being CKD, these markers would help:

- urine albumin/creatinine ratio
-urine uric acid
-urine creatinine
-urine albumin
-serum creatinine
-serum albumin
-serum uric acid
from cbc: red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit
-LDH

Does your urine foam?

I doubt your GP will allow you to take these tests for insurance reimbursement, so it's likely you won't take these tests as it's going to out of your own pocket. It's more likely that you'll just go with what your GP says.

If you have some kidney issues, you may not feel it until it gets worse. In my case, I got to learn about it after my blood pressure went up. In hindsight, I would like to know if my kidneys are doing well way before warning signs emerge. To do that, I'd have to be willing to pay extra for tests that won't be reimbursed by health insurance.

Thanks for you're reply

some of the numbers I have to hand are:

Uric Acid 445 200 – 430 Reference Range (µmol/L)

Serum sodium 143 mmol/L 133.00 - 146.00mmol/L

Serum potassium 4.3 mmol/L 3.50 - 5.30mmol/L

! Serum creatinine 105 umol/L 59.00 - 104.00umol/L

eGFRcreat (CKD-EPI)/1.73 m*2 80 mL/min 60.00 - 150.00mL/min

You're welcome!

I think that it's worth asking and looking for answers to why your uric acid is high. You could begin by checking your urine uric acid to see if you're excreting too little of it. I checked mine recently, and I realize that I was excreting too little of it. I don't know why that is, but I think it's because my body needs it, and it's just keeping more of it. It could be because the body is low in anti-oxidant stores, and needs the uric acid. I notice that when I take plenty of vitamin C, my uric acid levels would go down. So maybe there's some truth in my logic.

there is some other kidney tests that I missed off that are from the same set of results

does that change the picture at all, do we have any more clues here?

Thanks

Sounds like Beriberi with some Pellagra thrown in. Simple vitamin deficiencies.

You have many signs that there's a kidney angle to your pathology. Since many (but not all) of your issues seem to involve poor acid-base balance, the kidneys would be involved as the kidneys are very much involved in acid-base balance. But without much data, it's difficult to say more.

If I were to just focus on one issue, it would be your acid-base balance. Since you also have low energy (falling asleep), it could be that your poor acid-base balance comes from poor glucose metabolism, and you may have high lactic acid levels.

Having psoriasis and dermatitis seems like an issue with with low-grade bacterial infection affecting your vascular system. How is your dental hygiene? Any issues as far as periodontal infection is concerned? Such infection is a source of endotoxins that could cause plaque in your kidney capillaries, and this will affect your kidneys, which may explain the high creatinine.

The high uric acid may reflect your body's need for more anti-oxidants to counter oxiative stress from inflammation due to endotoxin exposure.

But I'm just thinking out loud. Without data to confirm, it's just speculation.
