Ketoconazole, Liver Function

I'm currently taking ketoconazole, under the care of my physician for a stubborn rash. I suspect more widespread fungal infection due to how bad I felt the first couple days on it. I felt the same when I took Nystatin (foggy, irritable, extremely lethargic, headache..).

I understand ketoconazole can cause liver damage. Is there anything I can do or avoid doing while on it to minimize this risk?

Also, any comments on what the max time should be for a course?
