@Richiebogie and @Blossom — How are you two getting on with your vit. A depletion diets?
So so, Thanks for asking. It's going great on days that I can actually stick to it. I started right before vacation so that was slightly challenging but I did well most days. I discovered on vacation that fortified dairy was giving me more problems than foods with naturally occurring A like oysters or greens.

Within two days of getting home I got called out of town to be with my mom who was on hospice. She passed away a couple days later so as you can imagine I wasn't too focused on vitamin A. I ate mostly rice, raisins and coffee with collagen because I didn't want to leave her side.

Since then I've been traveling a lot out of state to help my dad so mostly just eating the best I can but not super focused on being on a strict regimen.

My watermelons are going to be ready soon so regardless of vitamin A I'm certainly going to enjoy those!

After 2 months of experimenting the jury is still out. The fortified foods and supplements are definitely a NO for me though. I'm feeling better in general despite my recent loss but I've been sleeping inclined which I am really impressed with to be honest. That alone could be making a huge difference.

I will probably get back to vitamin A elimination again soon just to give it a fair trial. I usually do well for several days and then end up having to eat with family because of the situation and rather than be rude or go hungry I will have something high in A and be back to square one. Cronometer is showing my weekly average at 11% for A so I'm still decently low. People kindly go out of their way to have something gluten free for me so ... well I'm sure you can relate.
I really appreciate you checking on me! I didn't mean to write a novella.
How are you doing?

Aww...Blossom. :disrelieved: I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm glad you got to be with her when she passed. It's such a hard thing to watch and yet being there is such a blessing, huh? To think, you finally recover from a stressful period only to have something devastating happen. Life really s*cks sometimes! You write all the novellas you want. What you guys have to say matters to me.

I can completely understand your experiment taking a backseat and doing the best you can, for sure. That's great that you figured out that the fortified foods and supplements are a no go and you're feeling good despite what you've been dealing with. I'll have to look into sleeping inclined. I imagine it helps lymphatic flow/drainage via gravity — like sleeping sitting up when we have a cold so that the nasal passages and head can drain?

I'm doing okay. Thanks for asking! I ended up with a fever/cold symptoms, and the body pain, lack of filtration, nightmares, heart palpitations and anxiety have come back full force so before posting an update, I've been trying to narrow down if it's due to the cooked soups or the salt.

Much love to you.❤️

@Jennifer and @charlie, I found this comment on Earth Clinic about one lady's experience with IBT.

"The nature of my urine has changed as well. I collect my a.m. urine to compost (we have a drought, and I read in a book written pre WWII that urine makes great nitrogenous composting material! ). Well it used to be much more dilute before. In the last few weeks, minerals have precipitated out and stuck to the sides and bottom of the urine jar. I should really measure the specific gravity to be more precise. But it appears that by sleeping in this position, you secrete more concentrated urine, with a lot more mineral density."

Hi @Jennifer,

I am doing ok on my low beta carotene and low retinol diet.

I reduced sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot and leafy greens first, then I reduced mangos and red peppers, then I finally stopped the butter in my potatoes! Butter is delicious so I still supply that for my friend, but I have been using small drizzles of olive oil for my experiment!

My legs were itchy for a while but now that seems to have subsided!

You never know whether bad symptoms are a good sign (eg. detox) or not, so I may need to stick with it a bit longer!

I think there is less yellow on my collars! I have been using the steam room a bit over winter at the indoor pool centre, so that should also be increasing the flow of toxins out of my skin!

Actually my aunt served chicken liver pate, broccoli, pumpkin, butter and whipped cream among other things tonight for a family dinner so there will be a temporary setback, but in the last 2 months I have definitely decreased retinol and its precursors!

Did you find the issue behind your nightmares / pain?

You might be getting more sensitive as you clean up your environment...

Or maybe you could benefit from Vegetable Police's beef cleanse!

Take care!

Very interesting. So it looks like IBD is helping with lymphatic flow. Nice. I question if it could be a possible issue for those whose adrenals and kidneys are weak and unable to filter out the lymphatic waste that is being stirred up. I can see them possibly developing mid to lower backaches, but I may not be grasping the science fully?

Another thing I question is possible pressure on the spine. The beauty of sleeping flat is that pressure (vertical) is taken off the spine for the night. I see the spine as a spring that compresses throughout the day from being upright — if we're lying at an angle, enough to slide down some, is the spine fully able to decompress or is it dealing with some level of compression?

I wanted to try it but after looking at my bed, I'm not sure I can. I needed an adjustable bed that raised back when I was relearning how to walk and the boxspring is the base to incline bed. The bed doesn't have feet but instead one long, thin metal bar at the foot and head of the bed so the risers won't work. The mattress is latex so I'd need a solid base to incline it. Anyhow...

I understand your caution due to your situation. There were some anecdotes of increased bone density that I'd read about but it's not something that's been studied in detail as far as I can tell. There's no money to be made off something people can do virtually for free to help themselves!
I just saw that lady's report and it sounded like something right up your alley- urine and minerals.:D

That's good to know! I'm filtering (when I don't experiment, anyway ) so I'm all for getting my flow on. lol

Only trial would tell whether it would be helpful to you, but logistically, I wonder whether inserting a 4x2 under the full length of the metal bar at the head end would give suitable support?
I think there are reports of some people getting a bit of back pain. Sometimes only for the first few days while adjusting. Others have found improvement in back issues. Some suggest there's potential for slight traction, but I don't know if that's well demonstrated.

That's good that the itching has subsided. That could become very annoying after a while. For sure! It is tough to know whether the bad symptoms are a good sign or not. I think the fact that you stick to nutritious foods no matter what diet experiment you try makes for a good safety net.

And how interesting that you're seeing less yellow on your collars. I've noticed for a few years now that I no longer get a pale yellowing at the armpits of my shirts. I thought it was due to no longer using deodorant, but now you've got me questioning that.

Did you notice anything good or bad from the meal your aunt prepared?

Yep, it was cooked causing the nightmares and pain. It always ends up being the cooked food but I was trying to reintroduce it because of this belief I've had that if I couldn't tolerate it, it meant I'm not healing. However, I think you're right. If I didn't feel so great and see so many improvements/benefits when I stick to mostly raw, I would question if I'm actually weakening my system but I think I've finally become aware of what healthy actually feels like and what my body runs best on.

Poor Veggie Police! I empathize with his struggle. I did the all meat diet but I didn't fare so well on it. This girl needs the sweet stuff! :D

Take care, Richie!

2 inches for a first trial, then something bigger to follow if promising.

Ooh...well, now that's brilliant! Haha! I was stuck on those little risers. A 2x4 under my preexisting boxspring will be a lot easier to work with than plywood. Thanks, tara! :)

She's perfect! I bet you can't wait to dig in? I've been eating a lot of watermelon lately. It helped bring down my fever. Good stuff!

@Regina and @Jennifer, it was the best watermelon I've ever tasted!
Awesome! This gives me hope that when I move and can finally get started on my garden, the effort will be well worth it. My brother brought me some zucchini from his garden a couple of weeks ago and one was gigantic! I should of asked him if he would take a picture of it for me. I could of added it to the produce porn we have going.

Maybe this will do. It's the largest cantaloupe I've had, to date. To give perspective, the melon on the left is the size of a standard cantaloupe.
