I think the best way to maintain a high, healthy sex drive is to maintain a high, healthy metabolic rate. This means focusing on improving body temperature, pulse, thyroid function, and mood. Sexual health will follow suit.

The peaty recommendations would be the best place to start — milk, fruit, low intake of inflammatory amino acids and using more gelatin instead, enough protein, coffee, salt.

Low intake of inflamatory aminoacids means low intake of meat and fish (only organs)?

How could we get enough protein without meat and fish? Just with gelatin and milk?

Yes, it would mean not having a huge portion of your protein from muscle meats or fish. Instead, prioritizing milk, cheese, gelatin, shellfish, eggs, and organ meats.

Ray Peat mentioned the importance of a favorable amino acid balance twice in the below interview with Danny Roddy, both in the context of helpful adjustments to increase energy production. He mentions it at 51:30 and then again sometime earlier in the interview, but I can’t find the time stamp of that first mention.

I think most guys would be ready to go if a woman gave them a cue. Even when I don't think I would be in the mood, if a beautiful woman (let's say my wife for example) really wanted to have sex she could easily put me in the mood in a matter of seconds. This is different than always wanting to have sex. I think always wanting sex would be a bit annoying to be honest. Can't get much done if that's all you can think about. It would be like always being hungry. Sure being hungry and eating food is great, but I like to be satisfied for a bit you know?

You are going to need meat, especially red meat for histidine(histamine is vital if you want to have high libido), zinc, and other nutrients vital for the libido. You need at least moderately high histamine to have high libido (ready to go whenever/easy to get going), and you also need low prolactin, high levels of androgens as well. Deficiencies of any kind cripple libido as well.

As a man in his 40's, I can definitely see how important the basic stuff some have shared on here impacts sex drive. I have a much better sex drive now than 15 years ago b/c of doing the basics.

The fear of losing your sex drive can cause havoc on your physiology as well. Especially if you identify strongly "who you are" with sex.

Stupid question: If you had 24 hours notice with an absolute drop dead gorgoeus babe but you’re feeling sub par, what would you do to ramp up your drive/performance?

In an ideal world...clean intestine (possibly low dose penicillin/tetracycline), a few sets of bodyweight squats, 5mg zinc, pregnenolone/DHEA, no starch, make people laugh. Obviously this is hugely individual but fascinating to hear if anyone found anything that helped them in this type of situation in the past.

Hardly a stupid question, I've used pycnogenol (a supplement, aka french maritime pine bark extract) before with pretty good results although still not sure fire

Having a huge drive daily sounds like a bit of an inconvenience. If you’re in a relationship then you’ll have to be certain such a drive is possible for your woman too or you’re gonna be setting yourself up for frustration. If single there will be less demand on one person to match your drive since you’ll have multiple options but you’ll have to work a lot to ensure there’s willing partners daily

It is possible. Sex drive varies for me depending on whether I’ve ejaculated recently and just because...but it is always present, always like a glowing red hot ember.

My libido never goes away, give me a hot girl and magic happens. Frequent sexual thoughts but never overpowering. Jack off to porn maybe once every 2 weeks

Definitely an upper body workout, a chest pump is something that always makes me feel much more confident. Other than that I wouldn't change my diet and definitely not try anything new. I might take some thyroid couple hours before the date if I'm feeling stressed.

What aminoacids would be classified as inflammatory?

Dr. peat mentions methionine, cysteine, and tryptophan as inflammatory. In this article (Tryptophan, serotonin, and aging)
he discusses the harmful effects of tryptophan and states that cysteine, methionine, and tryptophan suppress thyroid function.

What foods should be the main to avoid for not having these inflamatory aminoacids?
Muscle meats: lamb, beef, pork, chicken, fish.

Peat also says we should avoid featuring these foods as heavy protein sources in our diets because they’re high in phosphate, which opposes calcium’s effects in some ways.

However, there are many people on this forum who seem to do quite well with plenty of meat in their diet. Some people get low on iron or other nutrients when they have no muscle meat in their diets. Still, some do very well without any muscle meat, getting a very calcium-heavy calcium to phosphate ratio.

Lita Lee, another Peat-inspired, thyroid-specialized doctor, recommends featuring muscle meat more than Peat does.

I believe pretty much everything Peat says because he’s so knowledgeable, but at the moment, I still eat a good amount of muscle meats. I tried going meat-free for a while and ended up consuming too many liquids, which messed up my digestion. So I re-incorporated a lot of salty meat (like a pound a day) a few days ago, and I’m doing well since then. Ultimately, I would like to get my calcium:phosphate ratio higher in the future, but sometimes our bodies object to certain things at certain times, so we can’t always be perfect Peaters if our bodies disagree. I plan to try lowering meat again later, seeing how my body responds then.
