Some websites even claim this: "In fact, when saltwater fish are placed in salt water made with table salt, they die." Articles: Shaking Up The Salt Debate!, Reasons to Eat MORE Salt | Wellness Mama. And is it true for the human body as well?

"Table salt, which is 97% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is chemically produced, bleached and devoid of most other nutrients. It also contains Aluminum in many cases, which has been linked to Alzheimers disease and other problems in the body." from the second source.

That's because table salt is just sodium and chloride, it doesn't contain the plethora of minerals in the proper balance that seawater has.

All salt comes from the sea, but table salt is refined to just contain sodium chloride. Then they add an anti-caking agent (sometimes it's iodized).

The people talking about table salt being 'devoid' of nutrients are probably just trying to sell you something. Don't forget that salt is consumed in relatively low doses. Even if you were to ingest 10 grams of himalayan rock salt, you'd get a whopping 40.5mg of calcium.

By all means stick with sea salt, but don't feel like you need to go splashing out on the super-priced stuff in health food shops.

some say sea salt is better because it has other minerals but most peeople put table salt on their food which has minerals so it balances out the calcium chloride. there could be an issue if you wanted to do that solei stuff where you drink salt water in that case clean sea salt would be advisable.

So does it mean that if a human drinks hypersaline solution (recommended by Peat in Salt, energy, metabolic rate, and longevity) in a poor diet, he will die?
If he drinks enough of it he will. The dose makes the poison.
i never heard of table salt being toxic.... thats a bit weird
It's not toxic in the normal quantities people put in their food. You can ignore this weirdness.
Some of the anti-caking agents may not be great, but you can avoid them if you want to by getting pure/kosher salt or sea salt. On the other hand, you don't eat much of it, so it may not be a big deal in the scheme of things.
