I have some problems with my HPA-Axis. Cognitive retardation, Muscle jerking, Emotional numbness, Lack of anxiety(This is a good thing, I know. But it's one of the outcome of my disease)
I have no money for hormone testing. I think I can take 0.5 or 0.25 dexamethasone, for only testing if there is a problem with the glucocorticoid system.
it's possible that I have overly upregulated glucocorticoid receptors, and this causes excess negative feedback.
My cortisol test came as 8.72. Reference is 8.7 - 22.4.
Is it risky to take corticosteroids even if it's only one dose? I had read some of the stories about cortisol causes hyppocampal shrinkage and brain damage, I don't want to damage my brain.
