I take 50mg of diphenhydramine nightly to help fall and stay asleep. Are there any known long-term repercussions to this and are there any "Peat" related reasons not to be taking it?

Personally I would be careful about the anticholinergic activity of it, but it might not affect you, especially if that is high.
It can potentially cause erection issues in some, but I am not even sure if you sure run with this idea.

You might try Doxylamine for sleeping, some seem to like it, works rather similarly.

I think doxylamime works better even at half a tablet.... Diphenhydramine can cause paradoxical wakefulness and restlessness....
