Hi , this is my first thread on RPF.

Iodinated oils like brominated vegetable oil (BVO)
It is rather safe , perhaps could be applied transdermally.
Iodine value is a count of unsaturation.
I couldn't get some old articles only the titles

Iodipin was such a kind of iodinated oil that was earlier in history of medicine. .
An article by Ludwig Hesse
Asthma -very rapid relief
Aneurism
There were no cases of iodism
Tertiary syphilis

" Iodized oil is much more expensive than iodized salt but is used especially for severe iodine deficiency in remote areas. It provides instant correction of the deficiency and the consequent prevention of brain damage."

Micronutrient Supplementation

R.D.W. Klemm, in Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition (Second Edition), 2005

Oral iodized oil

Although efficacious, injections of iodized oil have largely been replaced by oral iodized oil owing to the concern over the AIDS pandemic and use of needles as well as the higher cost of supplies (syringes) and personnel (skilled injectors). Oral delivery of iodized oil appears to be as effective as intramuscular injection but is less costly, carries no infection risk (through a contaminated needle), is painless, and can be administered by untrained personnel. Oral iodized oil is considered to be safe for pregnant women and can be given at any time during pregnancy; however, it appears to protect against moderate and severe neurological abnormalities in the infant only when given during the first two trimesters. The best outcomes are likely to occur when supplementation is given during the first trimester, but even if it is given in late pregnancy or to the infant after birth slight improvements in brain growth and developmental quotients, but not neurological status, are evident."

Influence of iodinated oil and margarine on the thyroid system of rats
" Manufacturing and consumption of sunflower oil fortified with iodine as well as derivative products on it basis is a perspective direction for elimination of alimentary dependent iodine deficiency disorders. The present work examines morphological changes in the thyroid system of rats at the experimental mercatholile-induced hypothyroidism. As well it determines the influence of iodinated oil and margarine on the thyroid system of rats. It specifies the safe value of iodinated oil and margarine for rats. In-vivo study demonstrated the efficacy of fortification of lipid products with iodine under iodine deficiency status."

A New Feature in Iodized Oils

Published Online:Jun 1 1932https://doi.org/10.1148/18.6.1115

Abstract

SINCE the introduction of iodized oil in therapy by Sicard and Forestier (1), its usefulness has been established, confirmed, and generally accepted by the medical profession for roentgen diagnosis and iodine medication. Sicard and Forestier produced an iodized poppy seed oil. Other iodized oils which are also available on the market to-day are iodized sesame oil and iodized rapeseed oil.[...]

The New Feature in Iodized Oils

This was the status of the attempts to prepare fatty oil containing both chlorine and iodine when the problem was taken up in our research laboratories in 1929. In selecting the oil for our study, we were guided by a high iodine value, low specific gravity, low content of the free fatty acids. We also considered (5) that the unsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic acid, of the oil are highly responsible for the irritating action of iodized oils. Poppy seed oil contains about 65 per cent of linoleic acid, while peanut oil contains only from 21.6 to 24.7 per cent. From these considerations we finally decided to use peanut oil.

How about using Lugals iodine topically rather than ingesting it?

★★☆☆☆ Disappointing!

Urinary excretion of iodine rises to high levels (the peak depends on the dose taken) and decreases sharply in a brief period, tending to lower further over time. I haven't looked at individual values, only the curves that can mask erratic behavior, but the control of mobilization could still be better. If it was proper, why is this pool of stored iodine being accessed and depleted in such pattern? It's an initial rate that exceeds requirements when it could be saved to maintain it normal for longer while avoiding the undesirable peaks, making it seem that the body doesn't regulate it as drugs. It's not something that frequent use adjusting according to needs can't outperform, it's an alternative when this is not feasible.
