I would suggest that anyone who wants to argue or vent their anger should look elsewhere. This place is for calm and productive discussions with people who understand that they might only know about 1% of everything that is possible. In a real world where anything is possible, there is no point in shouting and arguing.

Ray was a philosopher who spoke truth to power, and at the same time a scientist grounded in data and evidence.

He was honest and direct, and at the same time generous and compassionate.

These character traits are usually like oil and water in people. Seems to me they set the tone for the culture here which is why I appreciate it. I don't think I've ever been on a forum where people come from such diverse walks of life. The amount and quality of idea sharing is truly impressive. I spent a year or two just reading threads before joining.

In this era of influencers where everyone censors themselves to some degree in order to maintain and grow their status, Ray's complete disregard for anything of the sort was a breath of fresh air.
