From The Belly
Finally, my body vibrates again
with the quiet hum of the spring evening.
Up from the belly it seeps through the skin
a deep laugh that I know its meaning.
What was once a should now could be, maybe
thank you doctor but I’m always free.
For your questions I’ve got no answer but
once I point, it’s your self that you see.
Many giants whose shoulders we stand on
are part of us wherever we go.
Their love of life and mind of the body
gave us gifts I want people to know.
Through uncertainty loss can be regained,
life brims with possibility here.
To invite pleasure is to accept pain,
to have courage is to move through fear.
Be curious about disturbing things,
the source of health and life-giving ways.
I stand strong and laugh in face of defeat,
and for that I thank a man named Ray Peat.
