I literally have a gut from hell. Is it time for thyroid?

I have made so many improvements since starting a ray peat diet, but been lazy of late and starting to increase my pufa and gluten intake and my gut is in agony and I have consitpation! I'm going to start eating carrot salads everyday again to help heal the inflammation that's been caused but my question really is, I have been avoiding taking thyroid due to me not fully understanding the risks and consequences behind taking it and i am getting better just through the diet alone so would it be worth starting thyroid to help reduce/stop the allergy response to things like gluten and milk and eggs? Or wont it make a difference to the way my body tolerates these allergens?

Gut is a major source all health problem including thyroid. You have to keep
your intestine happy to stay healthy. If you do not have considerable amount
of PUFA stored then it is more likely that you can get away without taking thyroid.
Low gastric juice and slow peristalsis is one of the result of hypothyroidism.
If you are thyroid deficient then adding thyroid can improve those problems.
I do not think it is a good idea to eat problematic foods and then use thyroid
to counter that. Gut irritation and endotoxin lowers thyroid function
by lowering livers ability to detoxify estrogen and increased serotonin and
cortisol production. It also lowers liver's ability to store glycogen.
You will need to have glycogen storage to take thyroid hormone,
thyoid increases use of sugar and glycogen. You will feel worse
if you do not have glycogen/glucose to support increased metabolism.
My approach would be to fix the gut and energize the liver with food and
then use thyroid if it is needed. Carrot salad is an excellent idea.
I have noticed effectiveness of carrot depends on quality, sheredding,
chewing and timing. If carrot does not give significant benefit,
you can add other options like coosked bamboo shoot, cascara, occasional
activated charcoal, low dose antibiotics like tetracyline or minoccyline.
Traditionally people used to get half a grain of thyroid from foods.
Trying half a grain would be reasonable to replace that. I am getting
good results from using chicken neck and fish head soups, these have
good amount of T4 and T3.

Bag breathhing 1-2 min 2-3 times a day and red light therapy can improve
health quickly. What kind of supplements are you taking now?
I have increased metabolism by taking vitamin E (1,000 IU to 2,000 IU daily),
vitamin D 4,000 IU, niacinamide 100 mg 2-3 times a day ( it has been a huge
factor and i think one form free fatty acid inhibitor is almost a must for me)
and 2000-3000 mg of calcium with some extra calcium supplement.
You can use low dose cyproheptadine ( half to 1 mg 2 times a day) to lower
serotonin and it improves gut problems. RP recommends 200-400 IU
mixed tocopherols and he thinks higher doses are fine too. Vitamin E
requirements depends on size of PUFA storage. I never felt any major benefit
from 400 IU. You can increase fructose intake by drinking Apple juice, it has
been immensely beneficial for me. Coffee and niacinamide both energizes liver,
T3 can do that too.
