This article about hypothyroidism mentions Ray Peat and refers to an article he wrote title "Thyroid: Misconceptions". It explains Ray's criticism of using only T4 in thyroid supplementation.

I think it's actually a minimum temperature to prevent illness. I knew a man who had never gotten sick in his life...until the doctors managed to "cure" his "too high" temp of 100*. He has never been the same since. Most livestock run temps of 101*-103* as "normal."

Did they "cure" it with radioactive iodine?

I don't know. It took them a few years though.
