How to understand Ray Peat scientifically?

If one wants to understand everything Ray Peat says in his articles about physiology, and all his arguments, what subjects does one need to master?

I suppose chemistry would be a start. Do you know what other subjects or books would be important to learn?

Principles of Anatomy and Physiology by Gerald Tortora is a great and affordable book.

Hormones for Dummies would be handy. :)

I said that in jest but googling on it found some useful information. I have no background at all in chemistry and biology.
