How To Make A DIY Red Light Device

Hey guys,
I was wondering how to make a DIY red light device. Could we presumably buy one of these on eBay:

arrange it in a grid and power it up? What exactly do we need to make our own LED red light grid? Thanks!

It is possible. Mine is halfway there for ages, but here are some pictures:
You need an aluminum heatsink to dissipate heat. LEDs (I used 36 3W leds in the picture with different wavelengths: 620, 670, 760 and 810 or so, been some time ago). Solder. Wires. LED driver. Switch. Power plug. A bunch of 30 degree angle lenses. Heat conducting silicon glue. And in my case I included a fan and needed an adapter. On Ebay or so it's all a few bucks; IR leds cost most.
Edit: wavelengths are correct now. It takes about a day or so to fit everything together if you have figured out how. For those not familiar with soldering things and electronics: I wasn't either, but it works as you can see.
