How to improve thyroid receptors?

I seem to have issues with thyroid utilization. Adding in NDT did not really help. My thyroid symptoms are pretty mild, and they mostly are centered around my gut which I am trying to improve. My question is, how do I improve my body's usage of thyroid hormone? Can I improve my receptors? Do I need to increase liver activity? Are there certain foods to eat? Thanks
