The lavender = estrogenic is questionable. There is not much convincing evidence for that. Very useful article anyway, thanks!

Hi all,

Not only can dopamine levels be an issue, but also dopamine sensitivity. Often times there can be a dopamine hypo-sensitivity, so I've written an article on how to increase dopamine receptors.

Dopamine receptors: 14 Best supplements and practices and to increase it » MenElite

Let me know your thoughts and what has worked for you for improving dopamine sensitivity or just general euphoria in life.
Great article! From previous research i’ve done one would like to to increase density of d2 and d3 receptors (not d1) and area of brain also matters (striatum, etc)

I took uridine a few years ago, and nothing ever made me more motivated. But I am concerned about the uridine cancer correlation, which is why I won't take it again.

Indeed. Too much entertainment, distractions, info, etc., all day long.

Yeah, I've seen the article that lavender gave boys gyno, so I'd stay away from it though until proven safe.

D1 is involved in memory and attention and low D1 might contribute to ADHD. What have you come across that it would be best not to boost it?

I'm not convinced about the cancer connection. It was only an in vitro study, so nothing conclusive. I still think taking it 2-3 times per week should be safe if you get enough vitamins and minerals.
what about abstinence?
Abstaining will only be most beneficial if watching porn and masturbating in excess. If done infrequently, then it will most like only have a minor effect. Avoiding porn will have the biggest beneficial effect imo.
Lowering serotonin itself boosts dopamine.
Yes, but a lot of substances can increase both serotonin and dopamine, such as vitamin D. Serotonin can also increase dopamine through 5-HT2A. Not that I'm saying serotonin in good lol.

I tried taking Catauba bark again and must say it certainly does have an effect. It was almost too strong, like I felt hyper and neurotic.

Also, what do we all think about these "Dopamine Detox" plans that are gaining popularity around the web? Does having very high levels of dopamine desensitize the receptors to the point that we arent being properly stimulated and motivated by the important things in life? Perhaps constantly raising dopamine is not the way to go?

Sweet. What catuaba brand are you using?

I think they have value and it's much more than just dopamine detox. It's also about minimizing stress, calming the mind (social media, games, etc., can have your mind spinning and obsessing), getting a new mindset and more.
If you rely on diet, sleep, sunlight, etc., to increase dopamine, then there won't be any need for supplements and that stimulus be would healthy. If you use dopaminergic on top of that I don't even think they would do much.

Also lowering acetylcholine. It inhibits adenylate cyclase and makes the dopamine receptors less sensitive.

I haven't used it before, but it's on my list. People generally use around 400mg every other day, but higher doses less often can also be used.
