So from what I can gather, most people, including those with hypochloridia and achlorhydria, are able to absorb calcium reasonably well. But, people with those afflictions and/or other maladies may not have the ability to direct the calcium to go to the right places or get utilized in a way to enhance metabolism. In those cases the calcium ends up in soft tissues causing heart attacks, brain calcifications, calcium oxalate stones, etc. Despite these people eating adequate calcium from dairy, egg shell, or other sources they can still get these issues.

As we know vitamin D and calcium can suppress Parathyroid hormone which is necessary for good health, and getting PTH checked regularly may be beneficial. But is this the only way to verify calcium is achieving is ALL it's physiological purposes and not contributing to pathologies?

Phosphate and magnesium can affect Calcium as well. In fact there are a plethora of factors that influence how calcium gets utilized in an individual's body, so simply calculating up the amount of calcium, phosphate, magnesium, vit D one ingests is not going to paint the complete picture.

In order to properly find a supplement regimen, we must have a measurable start point and goal.

Is PTH the only measurement we need to look at to know if our calcium intake is getting utilized properly? If a person's PTH is in the lower quadrant of 'normal'; do they even need to supplement more calcium?

To be sure, should we be getting urine tests, CardioRetinography, coronary calcium scans, scans for calcium oxalate stones?

Calcium supplements, including egg shell can be dangerous if done haphazardly.
