I read this article thoroughly.
However, while the authors refer to "significant TC (total cholesterol) reduction in humans" there isn't a single graph or numbers set that illustrates the effect. Can someone with a sharper eye or who knows their way around interpreting these papers do a quick dig and see if they can find an answer?
In the meantime, I will be consuming ~5g (50mg/kg HED) of tea every day to see if I get these cholesterol lowering effects.
Theabrownin from Pu-erh tea attenuates hypercholesterolemia via modulation of gut microbiota and bile acid metabolism - Nature Communications
Pu-erh tea displays cholesterol-lowering properties. Here, Huang et al. show that this is mostly due to the action of a pigment in Pu-erh tea that induces changes in certain gut microbiota and bile acid levels, thus modulating the gut-liver metabolic axis.
