We already know that climate changes modify environments and have effects on lots of species via drought, flood, fire, temperature changes, melting and release of trapped gases, etc. (Observed effects from phytoplankton to corals to locusts to koalas, etc.) Seems likely it would affect the tiniest levels too, especially given that they are often the fastest to evolve.
