I think bottom line is people who cheat are just unsatisfied with their current relationship (which likely elevates stress hormones which in turn could lead to sexual addictive behaviour seeking). Also, in my humble opinion, they are either insecure cowards scared to just end the relationship and be alone or have a nefarious personality (borderline, anti-social, narcistic, etc.)

However, a single male having frequent casual sexual encounters is obviously correlated with healthy androgens, but that's a different subject.

I guess advanced human society functions better with male-female monogamous relationships.
