This is obviously just a coincidence by our rulers..... but when we factor in what we are not allowed to do during quarantine ,the slow progressive opening up of selective industries and the loathsome saying "new normal", it paints a picture.
Any accountant on here care to crunch the general numbers and potential savings more coherently than me?

Family spending in the UK - Office for National Statistics
The above study is for the UK ,it’s similar in other western countries I’m sure ,it highlights a households average spend.
Below are the -
Main points

  • Average weekly household spending in the UK was £585.60 in the financial year ending (FYE) 2019, a similar level to two years ago (£582.40), after adjusting for inflation.

  • Transport, housing and recreation and culture were the largest components of household spending, together accounting for 44% of total household expenditure.

  • Average weekly spending rose by 9.1% between 2012 and FYE 2019, with recreation and culture accounting for the largest share of this increase, up from £66.20 to £76.90 a week, followed by household goods and services and transport.

  • Spending on food and housing make up 42% of total expenditure for households at the bottom decile of the income distribution, compared with 26% for those in the richest 10%.

  • Households in the top income decile spend five times as much on recreation and culture than those in the bottom decile and proportionately more of their total spending is in this category, 14% compared with 10%.

Here is another chart showing weekly average recreational spending by income in the uk.

Below a good chart for America that estimates Americans spend almost 3000 dollars on entertainment and almost 10,000 dollars on transport.
How Americans Spend Their Money, in One Chart

Our rulers will not be "allowing" us to attend sporting events, restaurants, bars, concerts, movie theaters, fly on a plane for a holiday or weekend away, drive our cars more than a few Km/miles etc etc
When we are allowed it’s all restricted by social distancing and discourages us from doing so.

Bottom line is those still in work won’t really feel out of pocket when taxes are increased.
Watch the math as this unfolds ,will the new taxes pinch just the right amount relative to restricted industries and household spend in said areas? Watch also if single folk are taxed more relative to recreational spend which I’m guessing may be higher or almost the same as families in contemporary times.
Remember this is pretty much a global tax so think of the numbers.

Now where will all this tax money go when we consider the financial and corporate system has trillions pumped into it? Well, the bones will go to increased welfare payments but the meat will go to new global green projects!:D:shootself Those on welfare may also be asked to "volunteer" some slave labor for said projects also.
