High-zinc foods make me horny af?

Hi everyone! I really need to hear your experiences on this one. I previously noticed that whenever I eat sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, I get extremely horny for the rest of the day. I mean, like very very sex-obsessed, I almost start to watch porn (I never do), looking at girls on streets and on social media, etc. I have a girlfriend, for f**'s sake :) It's embarrassing. Pumpkin seeds have a stronger effect, and as I understand, they contain a bit more zinc. It's sort of cumulative, meaning I can get away with a couple of days of moderate seeds consumption, but then the horniness starts to take hold. Recently I've been noticing that eating lentils every day eventually leads to similar results. Of course, lentils contain less zinc than seeds, but those are not eaten as side dishes, so the larger amount of lentils that I can eat in a day kind of makes up for that.
Once again, it messes me up badly, I can barely concentrate on anything meaningful. My serum zinc are always okay. My diet also has enough copper.
I think I can easily reduce my seeds/lentils consumption but I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience.

High estrogen foods can do that….

How do you know it is the zinc? Have you tested it out by taking zinc or eating red meat?

Sounds more like high estrogen uncontrollable libido. I get this from gut irritation caused by eating things like nuts and beans/lentils/potatoes.

I do not eat red meat that often, but when I do eat it a few days in a row - yes, the same crap, as well as mood swings.
Do you take any estrogen lowering supplements such as Androsterone, k2 mk4, vit e etc?

+1 for experiencing this when supplementing with high dose zinc (30-60 mg/day). Goes away when I stop supplementing.

Is your diet naturally high in zinc? In other words, don't you seem to have the same effects from high-zinc foods?

Thought you were going to say oysters or red meat! Those foods tend to have phytic acid which clings to the zinc in them, it's probably something else tbh

Have you ever tried wheat germ oil? I remember getting very horny after taking it, first version of Tocovit had similar effect. I thought that some of those “impurities” in high vitamin e foods have this very strong pro-libido effect. Purified vitamin e, even in high doses, tend to be much weaker in my experience.

I think so, yes. It has been hard to track those things over the years, but I remember trying new, more filtered version some time ago only to find it didn’t do much to me.
Out of curiosity I decided to try taking wheatgerm oil again, already started.
Seeds are also high in arginine which could be a factor in their libido boosting effects. For some time I had to follow low arginine/high lysine diet and libido was very low then. But that diet was also lowish in protein in general.

Dude, your assumption seems to be right on the money! I myself started to think that my "zinc→libido" hypothesis didn't hold water because foods like grains, legumes didn't have the same powerful libido-boosting effect, not to the extent I had with the seeds, at least, yet they're very high in zinc as well. Also, even meat didn't make me so horny as most seeds did. After eating seeds, I literally am willing to screw everything that has a pulse, and even that condition is debatable.
However, I searched for l-arginine in foods and found the following source:
That perfectly explains why pumpkin seeds made me the horniest, while sunflower and poppy seeds did the same but to a lesser extent (could be "corrected" with the dose, though). Yesterday I ate a poppy seed pie with quite a lot of those, and I didn't notice anything right after. However, today I've had the craziest sex dream about shagging some promiscuous lady in every way possible. That's f***ing insane! What can cause such a high level of sensitivity? Thanks!

Yeah, maybe its indeed related to arginine. Though I doubt that if you take arginine or citrulline supplement it’d have the same effect.

I suspect that we will never be able to fully explain food effects via individual contributions of its macro and micronutrients. And at some point TCM-like explanations could work better overall. Mathematically speaking that would be like transforming our “coordinate system” from lots of observed correlated variables (micro-macro contents and their effects) to a few unobserved implicit variables.

Speaking about seeds, it seems that “bad” saponins can act as testosterone boosters, precursors, liberators or whatever. Pumpkin seeds are be rich in those as well as other seeds, legumes etc. Saponins are also antimicrobial/antifungal, and that could also play a role - less microbes in upper GI, less irritation, estrogen down, libido up, etc etc.
