I could not find the actual study but I would bet anything they used vegetable oil for the high fat diet in the mice.

The interesting tid bit is the strain of bacteria that they found reversed the social handicap.

Edit: yeah they were using soybean oil and lard from pigs as the fat sources. These rat diets are so bad that they feed them.
